For planning or remembering your Alaska trip
Anchorage to Seward

The Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic route travels south of
Anchorage along the spectacular Turnagain Arm then rises through the Kenai Peninsula's scenic Turnagain and Moose Passes before arriving in the seaside town of Seward. The train travels roughly 130 miles in each direction and takes about four hours one-way. On your trip you will have an excellent chance to see glaciers and wildlife such as moose, Dall Sheep, and beluga whales. The seven hour layover in Seward allows passengers to take a cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park and return to Anchorage on the same day. However, Seward has much to offer and is well worth a multi-day stay.  If you are traveling by a cruise ship that docks in Seward (Holland America and Celebrity lines) traveling to Anchorage via the Alaska Railroad allows you a day in Seward to explore.
